Alexandra Park
Belinda Carlisle once said that heaven was a place on Earth, and we wouldn't be surprised if she was talking about Alexandra Park. Nestled into a wooded hillside just south of Bath's busy city centre, Alexandra Park offers a stunning retreat of nature, birdsong, magnificent trees and breathtaking views of Bath as well as the surrounding countryside. A heavenly slice of tranquil, green nature contained within 11 acres at the top of Beechen Cliff, come for the panoramic views but stay for the picnic opportunities, bowling, and children's playground.
It can be accessed on foot via the long flight of steps known as 'Jacobs Ladder' or, alternatively, by Shakespeare Avenue, on which paid parking spaces can be found. There are public toilets on the grounds (bring 20p!) and the Choux Box Patisserie has a coffee cart at the viewpoint on Fridays through Sundays.
